Wilmington – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that was reported at approximately 1:50 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2019.

The initial investigation has determined that an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on Governor Printz Blvd. in the right lane, just south of Seton Drive, and struck a 49-year-old Wilmington man, who was walking in the roadway, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the victim was thrown in a southerly direction, coming to rest on the right shoulder of southbound Governor Printz Blvd. The striking vehicle then fled the scene without stopping, said Austin.

The victim was discovered by a passing motorist so an exact time of the crash is unknown at this time.

The victim, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, was wearing all dark clothing, with no reflective material and was not carrying a light. Impairment on his behalf is undetermined at this time.

The southbound lanes of Governor Printz Blvd. were closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
