Wilmington Police (WPD) have arrested a man wanted on two charges in New Castle County courts, and have filed charges related to a concealed firearm discovered during his arrest.
On Saturday, February 2, at approximately 4:51 p.m., members of the WPD Street Crimes Unit were in the Riverside community searching for 20-year-old Salvador Vasquez, who is wanted by the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas for criminal impersonation and Family Court for conspiracy (Second Degree).
Vazquez was observed walking in the 2500 block of Bowers Street, and police conducted a pedestrian stop before taking him into custody.
As he was being arrested, officers found a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband area, according to police. A search warrant was granted for, and executed at, Vasquez’s residence, where police found and seized body armor, said authorities.
Vasquez has been charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited (2 counts), carrying a concealed deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned and was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution on a $41,000 cash-only bail.
