Reports: Newark Hotel Evacuated Due To HAZMAT Situation

Newark – Just before 10:00 last evening, Monday, February 4, 2019, firefighters and HAZMAT crews responded to the 300 block of Continental Drive for reports of a HAZMAT incident at a hotel.

Authorities have yet to release details regarding the incident, however, reports from the scene indicate that arriving crews began an evacuation of the hotel.

We also know that firefighters and DNREC officials remained on scene until almost midnight.

We will update this developing story as more information becomes available.

Residents reported hearing a helicopter circling and numerous emergency vehicles responding to the area. It’s believed that the helicopter was a media helicopter from Philadelphia.
