Maryland – Yesterday afternoon, February 25, 2019, at approximately 2:49 PM, the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack received a call for a three-vehicle collision on Maryland Route 544 at Fourth Street in Crumpton.
Authorities said the preliminary investigation revealed that the Kia and the Ford were traveling eastbound on Maryland Route 544 prior to the Fourth Street/Pine Tree Road intersection. The Kia came to a stop at the intersection to make a left turn on to Fourth Street. The Ford continued traveling eastbound and for unknown reasons struck the Kia in the rear. This caused the Kia to slide forward and to the left coming to a stop in the westbound lanes.
The Ford came to a stop in the intersection blocking the eastbound lane. The Dodge was traveling westbound on Maryland Route 544 prior to Fourth Street. As the Dodge entered the intersection, it struck the Kia on the passenger side. The Kia was pushed back and came to a stop remaining in the intersection. The Dodge continued off the roadway and into a drainage ditch.
The driver of the F-150, 28, of Millington, Md. was injured and transported by ambulance to Chester River Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the Kia, 34, of Chestertown, Md. and the driver of the Dodge, 71, of Millington, were both injured and transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center.
A Post-Crash investigation is continuing by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. The roadway was closed in all directions for approximately 3 hours for the investigation and clean up.
