At approximately 8:25 this morning, New Castle County Paramedics and surrounding fire departments were dispatched to the area if Interstate 95 Southbound and Churchmans Marsh for a motor vehicle crash with a vehicle on fire.
Prior to Emergency Medical Services arrived, 2 patients were removed from the vehicle that was on fire by Good Samaritans, according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne T. Russell.
Upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found 4 patients needing advanced life support care. The first patient, a 33-year-old female, suffered burn injuries. She was transported to the Trauma Center at Christiana Hospital via Volunteer Company of Middletown ambulance in critical condition.
The second patient, a 41-year-old female, suffered burn and extremity injuries. She was transported to Christiana Hospital via Minquas Fire Company in serious condition.
The third patient, 33-year-old male, suffered injuries to his head and neck. He was transported to Christiana Hospital via Good Will Fire Company in serious condition.
The fourth patient, 43-year-old male, suffered injuries to his neck and back. he was transported to Christiana Hospital via New Castle County Paramedics ambulance in stable condition.
All of the patients were transported in care of New Castle County Paramedics.
A fifth patient, a 38-year-old male, declined transport to the hospital.
Delaware State Police is investigating the crash.

Newport – Firefighters from multiple New Castle County fire companies have responded to I-95 SB at Churchmans Marsh for a multi-vehicle accident with injuries.
One of the vehicles has burst into flames.
Multiple ambulances responding to the scene.
One patient is being rushed to the Trauma Center.
A total of five patients have been evaluated. Four of the five were transported.
I-95 SB is shut down.
Northbound lanes crawling due to onlookers.
Update: At around 9:30 am the roadway was reopened.
