The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist that occurred Thursday night, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.
Austin said the initial investigation has determined that at approximately 9:19 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019, a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, operated by a 56-year-old Hartly woman was traveling westbound on Forest Ave. (Rt. 8), east of Victory Chapel Road. 59-year-old Hartly man was riding a bicycle westbound on Forest Avenue when he was struck by the Chrysler, Austin said. The bicyclist was thrown to the pavement where he came to rest and the Chrysler came to a controlled stop and remained on scene.
The bicyclist was transported to Kent General with serious injuries. Impairment on his behalf is undetermined at this time, said Austin.
The driver of the Chrysler was not injured. Impairment on her behalf is not being considered as a contributing factor.
