Overturned Chicken Truck Closes Route 113 In Georgetown

Just after 4:00 this morning rescue crews from the Georgetown Fire and Ellendale Fire Companies responded to the southbound lanes of Dupont Blvd (Route 113) just north of the intersection with and Wilson Hill Road for a vehicle accident.

While en route crews learned that the crash involved a vehicle and a tractor-trailer. They also learned that one person suffered a head injury and wanted to be evaluated.

Upon arrival, crews reported that a chicken truck was on its side and ordered the southbound lanes or Route 113 closed.

Delaware State Police sent out an advisory just after 5:00 “*Traffic Advisory * Southbound DuPont BLVD (Rt 113) at Wilson RD – closed due to crash.”

DelDOT and a local tow company have also responded to the scene to assist in the cleanup.

As of 6:30 am the roadway remains shut down.
