Troopers Track Down Biting Suspect Who Fled On Bicycle

Magnolia– The Delaware State Police have arrested a Magnolia man after he physically assaulted a victim, Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on March 18, 2019, at approximately 10:16 p.m., when Troopers where dispatched to the unit block of E. Walnut Street, Magnolia for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with the victim, a 49-year-old male from Magnolia. The victim advised that he was at his friend’s residence when a subject, unfamiliar to him, entered the house and began arguing with him. The victim and the subject went outside where a physical altercation ensued. The subject then bit the victim causing him serious injury to his hand, said Jaffe. The suspect took off on a bicycle prior to the arrival of the police.

Troopers were able to locate the suspect on his bike in the area. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Lionel Thompson, was taken into custody without incident. Thompson was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with Assault Second Degree (Felony).

The victim was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with a serious injury to his hand.

Thompson was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $4,000.00 unsecured bond.
