The Delaware State Police (DSP) is investigating the attempted knife-point robbery of a New Castle area cellular phone store that took place late Sunday morning, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.
Bratz said the incident occurred at approximately 11:46 a.m., Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the Metro PCS store located at 210 New Castle Avenue. A male suspect entered the business brandishing a knife and walked to the counter where the cash register was located and demanded money. The employee refused his commands and the suspect fled the business running north-bound along New Castle Avenue. The suspect did not obtain any cash or property and the employee was not injured as a result of the incident.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 5’08”-6’02” tall, 150-160 lbs., wearing a hooded jacket, dark colored pants armed with a knife.
DSP is also investigating the knife-point robbery of a New Castle area discount variety store that took place Monday afternoon.
That incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2019, at the Dollar Tree store located at 2201 Hessler Boulevard, New Castle. A male suspect confronted an employee at the sales counter and brandished a knife. The suspect grabbed the money from the register and struck the employee in the chest area with the knife. The suspect then fled from the business on foot eastbound in the direction of North DuPont Highway. The victim reported minor abrasions and refused treatment.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 5’07”-5’08’ tall, 170-180 lbs, unshaven, medium build, wearing a dark colored hooded jacket, dark colored pants and dark colored winter style hat armed with what appears to be a knife.
