Police: Man Fled On Foot During Traffic Stop

Wilmington Police have arrested a 20-year-old who fled on foot after a traffic stop.

Officials said on April 21 at approximately 10:33 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Madison Street. The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Akim Gordon, fled from the vehicle on foot and was apprehended by another officer in the 400 block of North Adams Street, where he was observed discarding 3 grams of crack cocaine, police said.

Gordon was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and motor vehicle violations. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and given $8,400 secured bail. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution related to a violation of probation.
