Troopers: Man Kicked Door Down And Assaulted 15-Year-Old Girlfriend

Houston- The Delaware State Police have arrested an 18-year-old after he broke into a residence and assaulted his girlfriend, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on Thursday,  April 18, 2019, at approximately 11:25 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Pine Street for a report of a domestic-related burglary. Upon arrival, Troopers met with the homeowner who advised that her two grandchildren were spending the night at her residence when she woke up to [ms-protect-content id=”35525,36371,36374,36464,36481″]her granddaughter screaming and a window shattering.

Moments later, Dontreze McDonald, kicked in the bathroom door and removed it from the hinges, according to Jaffe. McDonald then made contact with his 15-year-old girlfriend who was staying at the residence and physically assaulted her, said Jaffe. The victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment. During this incident, another minor was in the residence who was not harmed.

McDonald left the residence prior to police arrival and was later located at his residence and taken into custody without incident. McDonald was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:

Burglary First Degree
Assault Third Degree
Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Criminal Mischief
McDonald was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $7,100.00 secured bond.
