Georgetown, DE-Georgetown Police have arrested a Laurel man as a result of an April 24th shooting investigation, according to Detective Joey Melvin.
Melvin said on April 24, 2019, Georgetown Police responded to the parking lot of County Seats Apartments for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, Georgetown Police learned that a male victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the foot and was subsequently transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.
Georgetown Detectives determined that the suspect was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot when another male approached him and began to physically assault him, said Melvin. The suspect exited his vehicle and produced a handgun which he then discharged, striking the victim in the foot, according to Melvin. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle.
On May 2, 2019, the U.S. Marshalls First State Fugitive Task Force took custody of Tyrone Fassett 44, of Laurel, at the Burton Village Apartment Complex in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Fassett was turned over to the custody of Georgetown Police and arrested for assault 1st Degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted.
Fassett was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a total $65,000 bond.
