Shoplifting Turns Into Robbery When Dollar Store Employee Is Pepper Sprayed

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that took place at a North Wilmington Dollar Tree store in which an employee was sprayed with pepper spray, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin Said the incident occurred at approximately 6:23 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Dollar Tree, located at 3602 Miller Road in Wilmington. A female suspect removed merchandise from the display and exited the business without paying at which time she was confronted by an employee of the business, according to Austin. Upon being confronted the woman sprayed the employee with pepper spray and then fled in a green, unknown make and model SUV, said Austin.

The suspect was described as a black female, 28-35 years of age, 5’5” tall, average build, wearing all dark clothing and a white head wrap.
