Three Injured In Two Separate Motorcycle Crashes Overnight

Smyrna – Just after 10:00 last evening rescue crews from the Citizens Hose Company of Smyrna along with Kent County Medics, and Delaware State Police responded to S Dupont Blvd at Sunnyside Road in Smyrna for a motor vehicle accident.

Early reports from the scene indicate that two people were injured in the single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. A female patient reportedly suffered a leg injury while a male patient suffered a head injury.

Shortly after their arrival crews on scene advised Kent Center that one patient had fled the scene on foot and that they were trying to locate them.

Command then reported that there was a crowd gathering around the scene and requested police. Trooper 4, requested to help locate the patient that fled, was canceled shortly after being dispatched.

It’s believed that at least one patient was transported to the hospital.

Just over an hour later at 11:19  rescue crews from the Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad, along with Sussex County Medics, Delaware State Police and Trooper 2 responded to Oak Meadow and Oak Orchard Road in Millsboro for a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.

Upon arrival, Command ordered the road closed. Not much information is available regarding the patient at this, however, we do know that the roadway was closed while Troopers investigated the scene.

Delaware State Police issued a short statement “Crash Oak Orchard Rd / Oak Meadow Dr.—single vehicle involving a Motorcycle–Roadway shut down. Use caution and avoid the area.”

Both of these incidents will be updated as more information becomes available
