Victim Shot Multiple Times Near Newark Wednesday Night

Last evening, May 8, at approximately 9:46 p.m. officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of Kimberton Drive and Westerly Street for a report of a shooting.

Arriving officers found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the lower body. Police did not say if the victim was male or female, however, we believe that the victim is a 33-year-old man.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital for non-life threating injuries.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived on scene and have assumed the investigation.

Newark – Police are investigating a shoot that occurred near Newark overnight.

At around 9:30 last evening Wednesday, May 8, 2019, rescue crews from Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder along with New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Westerly Street for reports of a shooting.

Indications are that the victim, believed to be a male, was shot outside in the Kimberton Townhouses Community.

Responding police officers used police tape to cordon off the area during their investigation. The on scene investigation wrapped up around 12:30 Thursday morning.

The condition of the victim, believed to be a male, is not known at this time.

County Police have yet to release details surrounding the incident.
