On May 29, 2019, members of the Newark Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, who are members of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Wilmington Taskforce, executed a search warrant at a residence on Wicklow Road in Bear. The multi-agency operation related to an investigation into drug dealing involving the residence, according to Sgt. Gerald J. Bryda
Upon execution of the search warrant, Isaiah Dejesus, 20, and Bryce Sanders, 19, both of Bear, were taken into custody. Upon a search of the residence, nearly 2 pounds of marijuana and (2) loaded handguns were located, said Bryda. One of the handguns had been reported stolen from Lancaster, PA while the other handgun had an obliterated serial number. Both Dejesus and Sanders are prohibited from possessing firearms under Delaware law.
Dejesus and Sanders were each charged with the following:
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (2 counts)
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
Possession of a Weapon with an Obliterated Serial Number
Conspiracy 2nd Degree
Receiving Stolen Property
In addition to these charges, Sanders was also charged with one count of Noncompliance with Bond as he had an active court order prohibiting him from being at the residence.
Dejesus and Sanders each appeared before a Justice of the Peace Court where Dejesus was ordered held on $104,700 cash bail and Sanders was ordered held on $113,500 cash bail. They were committed to the Howard R Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.
Newark Police have also obtained an arrest warrant for Kevon Gavin, 20, of Newark, for his involvement in this conspiracy, said Bryda. The charges are the same as listed above. He is prohibited from possessing a firearm under Delaware law.
