A Heritage Elementary School student is the Delaware Winner of Google’s Doodle for Google Contest.
A gymnasium full 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, complimented with faculty, staff and a few surprise guests were the proper combination of spectators for a special announcement at Heritage Elementary on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Second-grader Tess Harrar, unbeknownst to her and her peers would be announced as the winner for the Delaware region in the annual Doodle 4 Google contest.
Googlers (full-time Google employees) traveled from California to make the special presentation to Harrar and Heritage Elementary. To prepare for the day’s surprise event; Google provided T-shirts for staff and every student in 2nd – 5th grade notified family & friends and decorated the gymnasium in the spirit of Google.
The Doodle 4 Google contest has been in existence since 2008. Harrar is one of the 53 state and territory winners. Her doodle, “Fun Family Rainy Day,” was selected from thousands of entries received this year.
To help Harrar succeed, everyone can vote in the national contest from June 3rd – June 7th at http://www.google.com/doodle4google/vote.html. Public voting will determine the 5 national finalists.
“Everyone is extremely excited and proud of Tess. This is a great honor and huge accomplishment, stated Heritage Principal Alice Conlin, “We appreciate Google for preparing this on-site assembly and we’re happy that her family was able to attend.”
