Just In: Crash Closes Route 9 Near Dover, One Trapped

At 12:43 this afternoon, Sunday, June 2, 2019, rescue crews from the Leipsic and Marydel Fire Companies, Kent County Medic 6, and Trooper 4 were alerted to a motor vehicle accident at Bayside Drive (Route 9) and Dyke Branch Road in Dover.

While en route to the crash crews learned that one patient was trapped and was seriously injured.

Crews worked for several minutes to free the patient from the vehicle. Just as Trooper 4 was approaching to land, Command reported that the patient had been extricated.

Trooper 4 sat down near the crash site and within a few minutes, the patient was loaded and readied for transport to the Trauma Center at Christiana Hospital.

At around 1:00 pm the Delaware State Police issued the following statement:
“(Road Shut Down) Bayside Drive at Dyke Branch Road is shut down in all direction due to personal injury accident Please use caution and avoid the area”
