The Dover Police Department arrested Jaquell McDonald (22) in connection with two shooting incidents that occurred between Wednesday, June 12th and Thursday, June 13th, 2019, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.
Hoffman said the first incident occurred at approximately 10:01 PM when officers responded to the 100 Block of Willis Road for a report of multiple shots fired. Officers learned upon arrival, that multiple vehicles and residences had been struck by gunfire. A witness provided police with cell phone photos of a gray Ford truck and a 4-door sedan that had fled immediately after the shots were fired.
At approximately 12:09 AM, officers responded to the area of Stevenson Drive (Manchester Sqaure) for a report of shots fired with the suspect being described as a black male wearing light-colored clothing, Hoffman said. Officers who were working a high-visibility patrol assignment in the area, located Jaquell McDonald fleeing from the scene and took him into custody. Officers also located a .40 caliber handgun that was in the area McDonald as seen fleeing as well as a set of keys to a Ford F-150 that was in the previously mentioned cell phone photo, said Hoffman.
McDonald was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $75,500 cash bond on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (6x)
-Criminal Mischief (5x)
