A Wilmington Police drug investigation has resulted in the arrest of a New Castle man and the seizure of drugs, according to police.
Officials said on June 12, 2019, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division were in the 1500 block of West 5th Street in reference to complaints about drug activity. Officers observed 42-year-old Samuel Padilla, a New Castle resident, enter the area and meet with someone for a brief time before driving away and committing a traffic violation, police said.
Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and learned that Padilla had a suspended driver’s license. In the course of their investigation, police recovered .4 grams of crack cocaine and 16 bags of heroin.
In addition to the traffic violations, Padilla has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released on $800 unsecured bail.
