Clayton- The Delaware State Police are currently conducting a death investigation after a suspicious vehicle was reported, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.
Jaffe said the investigation began on June 12, 2019, at approximately 9:38 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Sudlersville Road for a suspicious vehicle in the middle of a yard, surrounded by tall grass in a rural area.
Further investigation revealed a deceased victim and hazardous material inside the vehicle.
Multiple agencies, including DSP, DelDOT, DNREC, the Leipsic Fire Department, Hartly Fire Department, Little Creek Fire Department, and EMS are currently on scene.
The investigation is in its early stages and remains active and ongoing. Sudlersville Road between Owls Nest Road and Downs Chapel Road is closed at this time. Jaffe said that no foul play is suspected.
Breaking Report
Kenton – At 10:17 this morning crews from the Hartly Fire Company, Delaware State Police, DNREC, the Kent County HAZMAT Team, and Kent County Medics have responded to Sudlersville Road just north of Hartly for reports of a hazardous material incident.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that one person may have been suffered serious injuries. As of 11:25 no patient has been transported from the scene.
Indications are that police are now conducting an investigation at that location.
A Delaware State Trooper that responded to the scene was decontaminated at the location, however, the Trooper will not need to be transported to the hospital.
Delaware State Police issued the following statement: Traffic Advisory- Road closure-Sudlersville Rd between Owls Nest Rd. and Downs Chapel Rd closed at this time.
