Police: Hammer Wielding Suspect Robs Gas Station In Newark

On Sunday morning, June 23, 2019, at approximately 11:44, a male suspect entered the Sunoco gas station located in the 200-block of South Main Street.

Police said the man approached the counter and demanded money while threatening the clerk with a hammer. The suspect then went behind the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the store on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years of age, 5’8″ – 5’9″, average build and wearing a light-colored hooded jacket and black shorts.

Newark – Newark Police Officers are currently on scene at the Sunoco gas station located at 287 S Main Street for what police are referring to as a robbery.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 11:45 on Sunday morning. Police officers are currently posted outside of the store while evidence technician work the crime scene.
