Unbuckled Seat Belt Leads To Serious Drug Charges In Milford

Milford- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Felton man after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on June 27, 2019, at approximately 8:12 p.m., when Troopers observed a black Ford F-150 traveling on South Rehoboth Boulevard with the operator not properly restrained. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was identified as 35-year-old George W. Smith Jr. Further investigation revealed that Smith’s driver’s license was revoked. Jaffe said a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted which led to the discovery of the following:

Approximately 1.008 grams of heroin
Approximately 2.95 grams of crack cocaine
Drug paraphernalia
Over $600.00 in suspected drug proceeds

Smith was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance with an Aggravating Factor (2 counts)
Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Driving While Revoked
Seatbelt Violation
Smith was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $51,201.00 secured bond.
