Reconstruction Of Delaware Avenue between South Chapel Street and Library Avenue
Project Description:
Provide for safe and efficient two-way bicycle traffic along Delaware Avenue from South Main Street to Library Avenue. Reconstruction of Delaware Avenue between South Chapel Street and Library Avenue.
Project Justification:
A cycle track concept along Delaware Avenue was recommended as part of the Newark Bike Plan. is being considered because there is not a good alternative for cyclists to travel west through Newark. The current alternatives would involve using Main Street or East Cleveland Avenue. Both of these westbound routes lack bicycle facilities. Therefore, many cyclists utilize the sidewalks along Delaware Avenue to travel westbound through Newark.
