Man Attempts Knife-Point Robbery At 7-Eleven Next To Newark Police HQ

On Friday, July 5, 2019, at 4:20 in the morning, a robbery was reported at the 7-11 store located at 202 South Main Street, according to Lt Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said the store clerk advised that the suspect entered the store and displayed a knife while demanding money from the register. The clerk backed away from the register and the suspect then went behind the counter in an attempt to open the register, according to Rubin. The suspect was unsuccessful.

The clerk then confronted the suspect in the parking lot as he was trying to flee. The suspect pushed the clerk to the ground and fled the area.

A responding  K-9 unit from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office tracked the suspect southbound on South Main Street, where the track was lost. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and was armed with a knife.

The clerk was not injured during this incident.
