Movie Theater At Christiana Mall Evacuated On Sunday

Newark – At around 7:45 Sunday evening, July 21, 2019, firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company along with mutual aid from several surrounding fire companies responded to the Cinemark Movies 12 for reports of a commercial structure fire.

While en route crews learned that an odor of burning plastic was filling theater number one. Upon their arrival, crews reported nothing showing from the exterior and began an investigation.

As they entered theater number one, crews reported a light smoke condition and confirmed the burning plastic odor.

As a precaution moviegoers in all twelve theaters were evacuated out of the building while crews worked to pin down the source of the smoke.

After about an hour after dispatch, the scene was turned over to building management.
