The fifth annual National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, from 6 pm – 8 pm on Academy Street in Newark.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work. Together, we are making that happen.
From 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, neighbors throughout Newark and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement.
The event provides a chance for the public to meet and interact with local first responders and to learn about what they do on a daily basis. Agencies will be showcasing some of their equipment and specialized units.
The following agencies are scheduled to attend:
Newark Police Department
University of Delaware Police Department
Delaware Natural Resources Police
Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company
University of Delaware Emergency Care Unit
Delaware Department of Correction Probation & Parole
The following events will take place throughout the night:
Newark PD K9 Unit demonstration
Aetna HHL fire prevention and vehicle extraction demonstrations
Food, drinks, and snacks will be provided free of charge thanks to our local sponsor – Acme Markets.
The UD Creamery truck will be on site to sell their legendary locally made ice cream.
AAA Mid-Atlantic will be providing various safety tips and information.
Kids will love the games, face painting and balloon animals that will be available.
