Middletown Police Arrest Man On Serious Drug Charges Twice In Just Over A Month

At around noon on Thursday, August 8, 2019, the Middletown Police Department’s (MPD) Criminal Investigation Unit and Crime Reduction Team conducted a traffic stop in the area of Cedar Lane Road and West Whittington Way, according to MPD Spokeswoman Lt. Dawn Misino.

Misino said the investigation led to a search of the vehicle and its occupants. The search resulted in the discovery of 63 Oxycodone pills concealed on passenger, 29-year-old Steven Simmons, according to Misino.

Steven Simmons was out on bail after his release from an incident that occurred on July 1, 2019. Misino said during the July 1, 2019 incident, the Middletown Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a drug investigation on the 400 block of Naughty Lane in which a firearm and 82 15mg of oxycodone were recovered.

Simmons was charged with Manufactures, Delivers, or Possesses with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 4 Quantity, Possesses a Controlled Substance in a Tier 4 Quantity, and Tampering with Physical Evidence-Evidence Suppression. He was arraigned and received a $36,000.00 cash bail.

His previous bail was also revoked and he was committed to Howard Young Correctional Facility. The driver of the vehicle was issued a traffic citation for tinted windows and released.
