Two Trapped In Rollover Crash In Newark Early Sunday

Newark – At approximately 1:23 Sunday morning August 11, 2019 rescue crews from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder, NCC Medics and Trooper 4 responded to Otts Chapel Road in the area of I-95 for reports of a motor vehicle accident with a rollover crash with injuries.

Upon their arrival crews found a multi-vehicle collision with one vehicle on its roof and two occupants trapped. Shortly thereafter Aetna’s Deputy Chief Jeff Sands requested a second medic unit and the next due rescue (Christiana Fire) were requested to respond to assist.

Sands said the crew from Aetna’s Squad 9 worked to stabilize the vehicle and the occupants were extricated in less than 15 minutes. As the two patients were freed from the vehicle the additional crews en route to the scene were recalled.

Both patients were transported in stable condition to Christiana Hospital by Aetna ambulance crews with New Castle County Paramedics accompanying, according to Sands.

Trooper 4, hovering over the scene, was cleared by ground medics and was not utilized for transport.

Area fire police also responded for traffic control.
