Mob Assaults, Robs Three Men In Pike Creek Grocery Store Parking Lot

The Delaware State Police are investigating an incident that took place at the Polly Drummond Shopping Center early Sunday morning in which three victims were assaulted and robbed, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 1:22 a.m., Sunday, September 23, 2019, in the parking lot of the Polly Drummond Shopping Center, located on Polly Drummond Hill Road in Newark. Three male subjects, 29, 37, and 46 years of age respectively, had just left an establishment in the shopping center when they encountered a large crowd while walking through the lower parking lot. Without provocation, the three male victims were assaulted and robbed of property by suspects in the crowd, said Austin.

The 29-year-old victim, who was hospitalized with serious non-life threatening injuries had had his cell phone and cash taken. The 37-year-old, who also sustained serious non-life threatening injuries, had his wallet taken. And the 46-year-old, who sustained minor injuries had his wallet and shoes stolen during the incident.

None of the suspects, who had fled prior to the Troopers arrival, were known to the victims, and witnesses were unable to provide any suspect information.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Trooper Aviola at Troop 6 by calling 302-633-5000.
