Fire Causes $100K Damage To Dover-Area Business

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has determined that last night’s fire that heavily damaged a Leipsic business was accidental, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

The fire at Carey’s Diesel, located at 168 Denny Street in Leipsic, Delaware, was discovered by a passing motorist shortly before 8:00 pm on Thursday evening.  When the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company arrived on scene they found an active fire inside an industrial building.

State fire investigators, called to the scene, found that the fire began in a piece of operating machinery inside the shop and spread through the roof.

Heavy fire damage was estimated at $100,000. There were no injuries.
