Newark Police Charge Pair With A Combined 42 Charges

Following a nearly two-month-long investigation, Newark Police have charged two men on multiple offenses, according to Lt Andrew Rubin.

Officials said the pair were involved in multiple burglaries, thefts of property, thefts of motor vehicles, and subsequent unlawful use of payment cards.

Rubin said the two men would sell stolen property to a retailer and stolen credit cards were used to buy merchandise. The suspects, identified based on surveillance video and other investigative means, were taken into custody on October 25, 2019, after they were stopped on an unrelated incident at the Christiana Mall.

Dahmir Lewis, 21, of Newark, was charged with 17 offenses as follows:

Lewis appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $34,000 cash bail. Lewis was turned over to the custody of the Howard R Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.

Stephan Lloyd Jr., 23, of Middletown, was charged with 25 offenses as follows:

Lloyd appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $45,000 secured bail. Lloyd was turned over to the custody of the Howard R Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.
