Bear – The Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Gino W. Harris of Bear, in connection with a robbery that occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at the 7-11 convenience store, located at 1700 Pulaski Hwy., Bear.
Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin said during the original incident a male suspect, who was armed with a handgun, entered the business and confronted an employee at the sales counter, while a second male suspect, later identified as Harris, acted as a lookout outside the entrance door. The armed suspect demanded cash from the employee and upon receiving an undisclosed amount, fled on foot southbound on Porter Road, according to Austin.
Through investigative measures, Harris was developed as one of the suspect’s and on Monday, September 30, Troopers observed him walking in the rear of the Fox Run Shopping Center where he was taken into custody.
A subsequent search of Harris’ Bear residence produced evidence linking him to the robbery, said Austin. Through further investigation detectives were also able to identify Harris’ room-mate, 20-year-old Amari S. Scales, who remains at large, as the gunman in the incident, added Austin.
Harris was transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with one count each of Robbery 1st Degree and Conspiracy 2nd Degree. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and then committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $62,000.00 cash bail.
