Sunday Morning House Fire Near State Line Displaces Three

Wilmington – Just after 8:15 Sunday morning, firefighters from the  Claymont, Brandywine Hundred, and Talleyville Fire Companies, along with mutual aid from Delaware County, Pennsylvania crews, responded to the 2700 block of Chinchilla Drive in the Northcrest Development for a residential structure fire.

As crews responded to the scene they were told that a detached garage with two vehicles was on fire. The fire, already fully involved, could be seen from miles away as crews responded.

First arriving crews reported that the garage fire had extended to the home and began the attack on the fire. As firefighters worked to bring the fire under control they simultaneously searched the home for occupants. Crews quickly reported that no one was found inside the home.

As a result of the fire, two vehicles were destroyed along with a detached garage. Heavily damage to the home forced the displacement of three adult residents. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the family.

Crews remained on scene for approximately two hours mopping up hot spots.

We’ll update this story as additional details become available.
