Update: Troopers Close Otts Chapel Road To Investigate Serious Crash

Delaware State Police have closed Otts Chapel Road as a result of the accident we reported earlier.

At around 1:00 Troopers released the following statement:

“Newark – The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:41 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2019 on Otts Chapel Rd. in the area of Welsh Tract Rd., Newark.

As a result of the crash Otts Chapel Rd. is closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.

The investigation is in the early stages with further details being released as they become available.”

Breaking Report

Newark – Rescue crews from Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder along with New Castle County Medics, the University of Delaware Ambulance (UD1), Cecil County and Trooper 2 have responded to Otts Chapel Road at Welsh Tract Road for a serious accident.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that several vehicles are involved. Multiple injuries have been reported.

Trooper 2 has landed near the accident. Aetna Chief Andrew Bowerson has requested Trooper 2’s medic to assist at the scene.

Update: At least one patient is en route to the hospital by ground with NCC Medics and Trooper 2’s medic onboard.
