Man Held On 1M Cash Bond In Christmas Eve Shooting

 

Wilmington Police have made an arrest in the shooting incident that took place on Christmas Eve.

At 11:14 Tuesday morning, police were dispatched to the 200 block of Cityview Avenue in reference to a shooting that had occurred.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that the 28-year-old male gunshot victim was shot multiple times and later was rushed to the trauma center in critical condition.

Detective Matthew Reiss of the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to investigate the incident. Through the course of the afternoon, Reiss was able to identify 27-year-old Daquell Walker as a suspect in the shooting, according to police.

Walker was taken into custody without incident, and he has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Attempted Murder (First Degree)
  • Reckless Endangering (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Conspiracy (First Degree)

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,060,000 cash-only bail.
