On Friday, January 31st, at approximately 4:01 AM, Dover Police Officers responded to a residence in the 900 Block of Buck Drive in reference to a burglary, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.
Officer said the female resident stated that while she was sleeping, she was woken by her dog growling. The resident observed a black male, wearing dark clothing, inside of her residence who then fled. The victim advised that an undisclosed amount of cash, in specific denominations, was stolen from the home.
Responding officers also observed that the suspect had gained entry through an unsecured window by removing the window screen. The suspect left his shoes and a hammer outside of the window, next to a ladder he used to gain entry, said Hoffman. A short time after the initial response, officers observed Eternal Heredia, 25, walking in the area while wearing dark clothing and with no shoes on, despite the cold temperatures.
Heredia was found to be wanted on Kent County Court of Common Pleas Capias’ and was taken into custody. Heredia was searched and found to be in possession of the exact amount of money in the same denominations that were stolen from the residence, according to Hoffman.
Heredia was charged with:
-Burglary 1st Degree
-Possession of Burglar Tools
-Theft Under $1,500
-Drug Paraphernalia
He was released on an unsecured bond.
