Police: Man Charged With Serious Drug Charges After Pursuit

The Dover Police Department arrested a 44-year-old from Harrington on drug and firearm charges following a short vehicle pursuit early Tuesday morning, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said at approximately 1:56 AM, officers attempted to stop a gray Audi for a traffic violation. The operator, George Jones, failed to stop and attempting to elude police.

Jones drove into an alley in the rear of the 1000 Block of S. State Street and struck a garage and a parked vehicle. Jones then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended, said Hoffman.

A search of Jones’ vehicle led to the discovery of a .40 caliber handgun (with obliterated serial number), 9.09 grams of crack cocaine, 47.9 grams of marijuana, 97 bags of heroin, and a digital scale.

Jones was committed to SCI on a $32,800 cash bond on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Marijuana
-Possession With Intent to Deliver Heroin
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Criminal Mischief (3x)
-Resisting Arrest
-Multiple Traffic Offenses
