Delaware State Police Troop 2 and the Keene Elementary School now reside on Cpl/1 Stephen J. Ballard Way following a renaming ceremony on Thursday.
Local officials pushed to change the street name to honor Trooper Ballard who was killed while he was checking on a suspicious person in a Wawa parking on April 26, 2017.
Ballard’s family, friends and fellow troopers, along with dignitaries, firefighters and county medics attended Thursday’s ceremony.
The signs changing LaGrange Avenue to Cpl/1 Stephen J. Ballard Way will go up later this month according to DelDOT officials.
