15-Year-Old Girl Shot And Killed At Newport Apartment Saturday

Newport, Delaware – The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is currently conducting an investigation with the Newport Police Department into a shooting death that occurred last night, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.

Bratz said the preliminary investigation has determined on February 15, 2020, at approximately 9:56 p.m. the Newport Police Department and the Delaware State Police responded to a shooting at an apartment in the unit block of Bennett Court in the town limits of Newport. Police located a 15-year-old female gunshot victim at this residence where she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

There is no suspect information at this time. This incident remains under investigation by the Homicide Unit and the Newport Police Department.

The Newport killing comes just hours after Troopers reported that they were investigating a shooting that occurred on the 4000 block of Ogletown Stanton Road in Newark at around 2:30 p.m., on Saturday.

The preliminary investigation in the first shooting determined that police located a 19-year-old male gunshot victim who arrived at the hospital, according to Bratz. Troopers have released few details surrounding either incident.
