The Dover Police Department arrested a 20-year-old Dover man after a shooting occurred on Tuesday evening, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.
Hoffman said at approximately 5:58, officers were called to the area of West North Street and Simon Circle for shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a 13-year-old male with a graze wound to his face. The victim was transported to Kent General Hospital where he was treated and released for the injury. In addition to the victim, two homes were also struck by gunfire. Arriving officers observed Darius Jean-Baptiste fleeing on foot from the scene, according to Hoffman. Jean-Baptiste was apprehended by police and determined to be the suspect in the shooting, added Hoffman.
Darius Jean-Baptiste was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $73,200 cash bond on the following charges:
-Assault 2nd Degree
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Reckless Endangering (4x)
-Criminal Mischief (2x)
