Troopers Investigating Death Of Young Woman Found In Her Home

Laurel- The Delaware State Police are conducting a death investigation after a victim was found deceased yesterday afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the investigation began on February 5, 2020 at approximately 1:25 p.m., when the Laurel Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of N. Central Avenue in Laurel for a report of a female located deceased inside the residence. The victim was discovered by family members who responded to the residence to check on her welfare after they had not been able to make contact with her.

At the request of the Laurel Police Department, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.

The 25-year-old female victim has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The victim’s name is being withheld at this time.

Jaffe said the investigation is in its early stages with further information being released as it becomes available.
