Wilmington Man Found Not Guilty In 2018 Shooting

Update: A Superior Court jury has found 28-year-old Lamotte Brinkley not guilty in the October 2018 shooting of a 31-year old man.

Update

On Monday, December 3, members from the Wilmington Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested Lamotte Brinkley, 26-years old, from Wilmington, for an October shooting.

On Monday, October 22, at 10:59 am, police were patrolling in the 2300 block of N. Market Street when they heard gunshots. While canvassing the area they located a 31-year old male victim in the 100 block of E. 24th, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Through investigative measures, detectives were able to develop Brinkley as the suspect in the shooting and an arrest warrant was issued for him, according to police.

Brinkley refused to make any statements to police and was charged with the following offenses:

Assault First Degree;
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony;
Two Counts: Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited.

Brinkley was arraigned and was committed to Howard Young Correctional Institute on a $140,000 cash only bail.

Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting, which occurred in the 100 block of E. 24th Streets at approximately 10:59 am yesterday, according to authorities.

Officials said upon their arrival, officers located a 31-year old male, who sustained a gunshot wound.

The victim was treated on scene and transported to the hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Breaking Report

Wilmington -At around 11:00 am, this morning, Wilmington Police. along with medics responded to the area of 25th and Market Street for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, crews reported that one patient was found suffering from what appears to be bullet wounds.

The patient is currently en route to an area hospital’s trauma center.
