Police: Dover Woman Beat To Death By Father Of Her Child, Exclusive Details

The Dover Police Department arrested a 24-year-old man for 1st Degree Murder on Sunday for an incident that occurred at a residence in the Unit Block of Willis Road, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said the Dover Police Department originally responded to a WAWA store on Forrest Avenue at approximately 5:34AM after being called by a bystander in the store who witnessed a possible domestic situation/suspicious activity between the male suspect, Aaron Garnett Jr., and three children.

When officers contacted Garnett Jr., he provided a false name and different statements as to why he was in the area with the children. Police then responded to a residence in the Unit Block of Willis Road based on the information they obtained from the earlier investigation, said Hoffman.

First State Update monitored this incident as it unfolded. Initial reports from the scene indicated that Naquita Hill, 23, had traumatic injuries to her head. Hoffman would only say that officers located Hill with major injuries to her upper body. She was pronounced deceased shortly after the officers arrived at the residence as a result of those injuries.

Based on the early findings of the investigation, it was determined that Garnett and Hill were involved in an altercation that resulted in her death, said Hoffman.  Her death was as a result of Garnett physically assaulting her during that altercation, according to Hoffman.

Hill and Garnett had one child in common together and the other two were being cared for by Hill for another family member. All three children are now in the care of a trusted relative, said Hoffman.
