Reports: Newark Police Swoop In On Unsuspecting “Carjacking” Suspects Wednesday Morning

Newark Police have taken three people into custody in regards to a reported “carjacking” investigation, according to reports from the scene.

Earlier Wednesday morning Delaware State Police received reports from the Maryland State Police that a vehicle that was “carjacked” in Maryland was believed to be in Delaware.

Within a couple of minutes, Newark Police and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 were also alerted that pickup truck was believed to be in the area of the Wawa on Ogletown Road at Marrows Road.

Trooper 4 already in the area arrived on scene just as several Newark Patrol Officers arrive. Trooper 4, hovering overhead, spotted the vehicle parked on the side of the Wawa and alerted Newark dispatch.

As the pickup attempted to drive away, Newark officers preformed a felony car stop at KFC next to the Wawa. As a result of the stop three suspects were taken to Newark Police Headquarters.

This is a developing story.
