The Delaware State Police have arrested Rafael A. Pena-Suarez, 64 of Bridgeville, Delaware in connection with a shooting that occurred at approximately 10:28 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2020, at a local area bar and package store, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.
Bratz said the preliminary investigation has determined that Troopers were dispatched to “The Woodshed” located at 22588 Bridgeville Highway, Seaford for a shooting incident. Troopers located a 41-year-old male gunshot victim after a reported altercation. The victim was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to a local area hospital where he is listed in stable condition. There were no other reported injuries as a result of the incident.
Rafael A. Pena-Suarez was developed as a suspect and a subsequent search warrant was executed on Rifle Range Road in Bridgeville this morning, March 8, 2020. Rafael was taken into custody without incident.
He was transported to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:
Attempted Murder First Degree
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
Rafael A. Pena-Suarez was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $280,000.00 cash bond.

An investigation is underway after an overnight shooting at a local area bar.
Detectives with the Delaware State Police are investigating the shooting that occurred just before 10:20 Friday evening at “The Woodshed”, 22588 Bridgeville Highway, a local area bar and package store in Seaford.
Officials said that Troopers arrived to find the 41-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Troopers learned that the incident may have stemmed from an altercation with another subject.
The man was transported from the scene by EMS to a local area hospital where he is listed in stable condition at this time.
