New Castle Burger Joint Robbed At Gunpoint Friday

New Castle – The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a Checkers restaurant last evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on April 17, 2020, at approximately 11:17 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the Checkers Restaurant located at 1503 N. Dupont Hwy, New Castle for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, contact was made with two employees who advised that while they were taking out the trash, they were approached by an unknown suspect. The suspect displayed a handgun and forced the employees back into the Checkers and demanded money. The victims turned over an undisclosed amount of cash prior to the suspect fleeing the area on foot. The victims did not sustain injury as a result of this incident.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a mask and armed with a handgun.
