County Police have made an arrest in the Claymont shooting that First State Update first told you about early yesterday.
On Friday morning officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Green Street in the community of Clearfield Village for the report of a shooting.
During their investigation Detectives learned that 46-year-old victim and her son, 24-year-old Marqus Grooms were having an argument. The 46-year-old victim’s 49-year-old boyfriend intervened and Grooms retrieved a handgun, officials said Saturday.
Officials said Grooms fired the handgun once striking his mother in her left arm. The bullet then traveled through her arm and struck her boyfriend in the hip area.
Grooms was taken into custody at the scene and the two gunshot victims were treated and released at a local hospital.
Grooms was taken to New Castle County Division of Police Headquarters and charged with two counts of felony Assault 2nd, one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and one count of felony Aggravated Menacing.
He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $26,000 secured bail.

Claymont – Earlier this morning (April 17), officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Green Street in the community of Clearfield Village for the report of a shooting.
When the officers arrived, they learned that there were two victims shot. One victim was a 49-year-old male and the second victim was a 45-year-old female.
Both victims are listed in stable condition and are being treated at local area hospitals.
Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.

Claymont – Just before 7:00 Friday morning rescue crews from the Claymont Fire Company along with Trooper 4, New Castle County Paramedics and Police responded to the 3000 block of Green Street in the Clearfield Village for reports of a shooting.
While en route crews learned that there were reports of two patients injured as a result of a shooting at that location.
