On Monday at approximately 2:45 a.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of Lynbrook Rd, in the community of Gordy Estates for a report of multiple subjects stealing from motor vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers began conducting a check of the neighborhood in an attempt to locate the subjects. Shortly thereafter, officers expanded their search and entered the parking lot to Simpson United Method Church. There they observed a silver Honda Civic suspiciously parked in the back parking lot. The vehicle was occupied by multiple juveniles.
Once the juveniles observed the police entering the parking lot, they immediately started to drive off in the vehicle. They drove onto Centerville Road where the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed on Centerville Road about five miles away at the intersection of Centerville Road at Hillside Road, according to police.
Police were able to apprehend all three suspects inside of the vehicle. The suspects, all juveniles, were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their minor injuries. After being released from the hospital, they were all subsequently charged.
One 16-year-old female was charged with one count of felony Receiving Stolen Property over $1500, one count felony Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, one count Unauthorized Use of A Motor Vehicle, once count of misdemeanor Conspiracy 3rd, and the following traffic offenses, Aggressive Driving, Reckless Driving, Driving without a Valid License, Unreasonable Speed, Failure to Remain in Lane, Failure to Signal, and Failure to Stop at a Red Light. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released to her parent/guardian on $3300 unsecured bail.
One 16-year-old male was charged with: one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and misdemeanor Conspiracy 3rd. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released to his parent/guardian on $600 unsecured bail.
Another 16-year-old female was also charged with one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and misdemeanor Conspiracy 3rd. She was also arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released to her parent/guardian on $600 unsecured bail.
