Trooper Close Route 4 In Newark After Reports Of Shots Fired

The Delaware State Police have shut down Route 4 in Newark after reports of shots fired.

Officials released the following statement:

The Delaware State Police are currently conducting an investigation in the 700 block of E. Chestnut Hill Rd., Newark. At this time the incident is contained to a specific residence, however as a precautionary measure E. Chestnut Hill Rd. (Rt. 4) has been closed in both directions between Augusta Dr. and Salem Church Rd.

Citizens will notice a police presence in the vicinity and are asked to avoid the area. The investigation is active and ongoing with further details being released as they become available.
